MLA assess damage in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: Heavy rainfall in Vijayapura town in the evening on Saturday having resulted in water gushing into houses in low-lying localities, and inundated roads, Nagathan MLA Devanand F Chavan on Sunday visited those areas that bore the brunt of the downpour, and took stock of the damage. Among others, Shikharkhane, Kalyan Nagar, Gachhinakatti Colony, Gururaj Colony, were flooded following heavy showers that started in the evening on Saturday, and continued into the night. Motorists, and those travelling by two-wheelers in particular, endured a nightmarish commute on waterlogged roads, struggling to reach home. The MLA dug into his own pocket to extend financial assistance to those, the plight of whom was particularly distressing, and instructed officials to attend to citizens’ grievances at the earliest.
