Telangana: Car washed away in flood-hit Sircilla district, woman and kid die

HYDERABAD: Two people, including a two-year-old boy, died after a car got washed away due to overflowing rainwater on the road at Fazulnagar in Rajanna-Sircilla district, on Sunday morning.
Vemulawada rural sub-inspector of police, Nagaraju, said that Gangavva (42) and her grandson, Krutik (2), died whereas two others - M Naresh and car driver Rizwan - escaped unhurt. Gangavva along with her grandson started their journey from Chalgal along with Naresh and Rizwan of the same village in Jagtial.

When they reached Fazulnagar in Vemulawada, they found the road overflowing with rainwater due to the heavy rains over the last 2 to 3 days. "The driver tried to use the road despite there being a heavy flow of water. However, he could not get the vehicle to move ahead as it was getting slowly being washed away.
At this time, the driver tried to reverse his course, but the car engine suddenly shut off,” Nagaraju told TOI. Naresh and Rizwan managed to come out of the car and Naresh, who can swim, reached a safe location. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and rescued Rizwan.
