"If I was the chairman of the selection committee, Shami is definitely in the team. We are playing in Australia, the guy's got the real action, the guy's got bounce, he can bare the moment and he can get on early wickets, so I would have probably got Shami instead of Harshal Patel. Yes, Harshal Patel is a good bowler, no doubt about it, but Mohammad Shami is the right guy, I mean they can say not the scheme of things, he's only for test cricket or one day cricket but we are playing in Australia. That guy has done well last IPL, so Shami is the must in my team.” - says former India captain and ex-chairman of selection committee Krishnamachari Srikkanth
Of the two wicketkeepers in the Rohit Sharma-led squad, Rishabh Pant gives India the option of playing the left-handed batsman as a free-moving 'floater', while Dinesh Karthik has a formidable reputation as a 'finisher'.
Dinesh Karthik will be a part of Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan, who were part of India's Asia Cup squad, have failed to find a place in the 15-member squad. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ruled out due to a knee injury.

Both Bhuvneshwar and Chahar are swing bowlers, it's difficult to pick both of them in the squad. It will be interesting to see who will go to Australia. Former cricketers had also questioned the selectors after they ignored Mohammad Shami for the Asia Cup. Former India coach Ravi Shastri said, 'I think the selection could have been better, especially for the fast bowlers. You know the conditions here. There’s not much in it for the spinner. I was quite surprised that you came here with just four fast bowlers (including Hardik). You needed that extra one… someone like Mohammed Shami sitting at home and cooling his heels baffles me. '
All eyes will be on the fitness reports of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel and whether they have regained their full fitness. They both gave a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on Saturday.
