KANPUR: A man lost his life in order to save his minor relative, who jumped in front of the moving train near Orai railway station of Jalaun on Sunday.
The shocking incident took place on Sunday afternoon, when Anjali (17), a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Orai, had left her house and reached the tracks near Rath railway crossing.
As soon as the family members came to know about it, they rushed their relative Santosh in order to prevent the minor from taking such an extreme step but Anjali jumped on the track in front of the train. In an attempt to save her, Santosh too jumped on the track, but in the meantime both of them were run over by the train. Police reached the spot and identified the dead bodies and informed the family members.
The family members told investigators that after the death of the father, Anjali used to live at her maternal grand-parents home in Gandhi Nagar.
Earlier also, she twice had made an attempt to commit suicide. On Sunday too, she left the house in anger after a dispute with some family members.
Inspector-in-charge Shiv Kumar Rathore said that investigation is on as to why the teenager had committed suicide. "Her mobile phone details will also be scanned. Both the bodies have been shifted for autopsy.
