Jaipur: Mayank Motwani of Disha Delphi School in Kota has bagged the fifth all-India rank (AIR-5) in the JEE-Advanced result announced on Sunday. A native of Bhopal, Motwani came to Kota in class XI with the aim of securing a seat in the computer science branch of IIT-Bombay and is on cloud nine to have landed in his dream destination.
“I owe a lot to the coaching town of Kota. Toppers from all over the country come here and prepare for engineering and medical entrance examinations. The scope of your competitive spirit increases here as you get the best peer group and everyone tries to do better than the other,” said Motwani, who was coached at Reliable Coaching Institute in Kota.
Sharing his success mantra, Motwani said he followed a specific strategy daily and gave equal time to all three subjects.
“Apart from my daily homework, I always practised revision and solved a lot of questions. I did self-study for about 8-9 hours every day,” said an elated Motwani.
He was inspired by his elder brother, a BTech from IIT BHU currently pursuing his PhD from Virginia Tech University in the USA. “I would like to follow in my brother’s footsteps and pursue my PhD in the US in order to become a successful entrepreneur,” said Motwani. Motwani scored 91.6 per cent in class 10.
Motwani secured all-India rank-1 in the KVPY SA stream and all-India rank-6 in the SX stream.
Motwani qualified for the Indian National Astronomy Olympiad, Indian National Physics Olympiad, and Indian National Chemistry Olympiad. He has also been a state topper in the NSEJS examination in class 9.
