VILLUPURAM:  Collector D Mohan on Sunday instructed education department officials to take action against an English teacher of BN Thoppe government high school for allegedly assaulting and injuring a Class 10 student earlier this week.

According to official sources, the incident occurred when the student had been talking with friends outside the classroom during break hours on Tuesday. "The English teacher, Jacqueline Mary, asked him to go to class harshly. When the student did not enter the classroom immediately, the teacher hit him on the head using a writing pad that he was holding. He began bleeding profusely from the head,"  sources added.

Sivakumar, the victim's father said, "Even after he had complained about the injury, the teacher didn't care for him and went on to take class." This is atrocious behaviour and we demand removal of the teacher from the school, he added.

Action will be taken against the teacher on Monday after a probe with school authorities and parents, said sources from the CEO office.
