Trader gets extortion letter of ₹10L in city

Jaipur: The Vidhyadhar Nagar police have launched an investigation after an unidentified suspect sent a threat letter to a businessman and asked him to pay Rs 10 lakh.
Police said that the victim had approached them on Friday. “Some accused dropped a letter at the businessman’s doorsteps in which he blamed the latter for causing him a loss of Rs 10.98 lakh. The accused asked the businessman to pack the money in a red bag and leave it outside a hotel,” said an official.
Police said that they laid a trap and waited for the accused to come. “Our teams were posted in plain clothes behind vendors and shops outside the hotel. We waited for the accused to come to the spot so that we could arrest him. But he did not come,” said an official. TNN
