DJ on way home stabbed to death, motive unknown

Nagpur: A DJ, Kalpesh Bawankule (28) was stabbed repeatedly leading to his death near a petrol pump at Kandri village on Kanhan Borda road, under Kanhan police station area, shortly after Saturday midnight. The motive behind the murder is not yet clear.
It’s learnt, Bawankule had gone to a programme in Kalamna. When he was returning to his village Banpuri in Parseoni taluka with two associates, Suraj and Jeetendra, on a two-wheeler, he was intercepted by two bike-borne assailants.
Sources said the assailants had wrapped their faces with scarves. They first rammed into Bawankule’s two-wheeler. Bawankule and his two aides fell down from the vehicle. Soon after getting up, they started to flee.
The two assailants chased Bawankule and his associates. They managed to pin down Bawankule and assaulted him numerous times with a dagger leading to his death. It is learnt, the assailants let go Bawankule’s associates.
An offence was registered at Kanhan police station of Nagpur rural police. Apart from Kanhan police, the local crime branch is also investigating the case. The two associates of Bawankule have been detained and are being questioned.
