Ranchi: The government schools in Jharkhand will observe wellness day every Tuesday for classes VI to XII in an attempt to make the students aware of the importance of good health.
Under the initiative of the Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training (JCERT), the school health and wellness programme’s training has been provided to the school teachers.
For the purpose, 24,186 teachers from 11,593 schools in 19 districts have been selected as health messengers. These teachers will select two students from each class from VI to XII as messengers. An extra class will be held every week in the school on wellness and health.
Ashok Prasad, principal of Government Middle School in Pandra, said, “Children should know the importance of health and wellness. As part of this initiative, students will be exposed to various activities and practical lessons like hand washing and sanitising.”
