THENI:  AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam has urged the state government to roll back the new EB tariff considering the welfare of the people. In his statement, Panneerselvam stated that electricity has become essential for people, especially for the development of small scale industries and agricultural works.

“Though the DMK party assured to provide 300 units free every month for handloom and 1,000 units for powerloom, no actions were taken towards their poll promise. Earlier, only on consuming more than 500 units of electricity the consumer will be billed at Rs 6.6 per unit. But as per the new tariff, the slab changes for each hundred units consumed. Small scale industries will face major issues over this new tariff.”
