Hyderabad: Hostel warden held for sexual abuse of 7 boys

HYDERABAD: A warden of a boys hostel run by a private school was arrested by Hayathnagar police on Sunday for allegedly touching minor students in an inappropriate manner. So far, seven boys lodged separate complaints against the warden, Hayathnagar police said. A month ago, the accused joined as a warden in the hostel.
A month ago, the accused joined as a warden in a hostel belonging to a private school. During his stay at the hostel, he started misbehaving with boys by touching them inappropriately, Rachakonda police said.
"The warden is a 35-year-old unmarried man. Due to his frustration, he decided to target the students of the hostel to satiate his sexual desires," police said. He made some students watch porn on gadgets under threat. He used to go into the rooms of students, who were sleeping alone, and harass them by touching them in an inappropriate manner, police said.
According to them, the accused allegedly barged into wash rooms when the minors were bathing and used to touch them inappropriately. This had happened on several occasions. "The accused harassed seven minor students in the hostel by putting them under fear. He also threatened them not to disclose it to anyone," Hayathnagar police said.
Some minor boys, however, informed their parents, who brought the issue to the notice of the Hayathnagar police.
Police took the accused into custody. Seven cases were registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
After conducting the probe for two days, the accused was arrested. Later, the hostel warden was produced before a magistrate.
