COIMBATORE: The city police registered a case against four people, including a BJP functionary, for attacking a hotel employee for not allowing them into the pub on Saturday.
Police identified them as Johnson, district president of BJP Minority Morcha, Lakshmanan, David and Jerish.
Complainant S Viswabharathi, accountant at Poppys Tower Hotel at Race Course, said only couples were allowed to the pub during weekends. “The four people came to the hotel in a luxury car on Saturday around 7.30pm. They were drunk. They wanted to visit the bar. When denied permission, they thrashed me and kicked me. When bouncers came to my help, one of them threatened them with a knife,” he said.
The hotel management alerted Race Course police, who rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry. Based on Viswabharathi’s complaint, police registered a case against the four people under sections 294 (b), 323 and 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on.
