AHMEDABAD: A 16-year-old boy, who was admitted to Sola Civil hospital with dengue fever on August 26, went missing from the hospital on September 7. Bhagwati Uttamchandani, a resident of Bhagwati Apartments in Gota, filed an FIR with Sola police, stating that her nephew Jay Lalwani had gone missing from the hospital.
Jay, who lost his father nine years ago and his mother in 2017, was also undergoing treatment for depression. He had been living with his aunt.
Bhagwati stated in the FIR that her brother Udhnaram Lalwani was diagnosed with dengue and was admitted to Sola Civil hospital on August 22. Jay used to be by his side to take care of him.
On August 26, Jay complained of fever, body ache and nausea. The blood test reports confirmed dengue. As his condition began deteriorating, he too was admitted to Sola Civil Hospital on August 26.
Bhagwati said that she attended both Jay and her brother at the hospital. On September 6, when she went to visit Jay, he told her a doctor had informed him that he would be discharged in a day or two.
On September 7, when she visited the hospital, her brother told her that Jay had gone to the ground floor the night before and had not returned since. She went to the ward where Jay had been admitted, but she did not find him there.
She also tried to look for him in other places in the hospital, but he was nowhere to be found. She then filed a missing person's complaint at Sola police station.
Inspector NR Vaghela of Sola police said that the cops have been checking the CCTV footage of the hospital but have not found any clues yet.
