World’s highest marathon in Ladakh sees participation from across the globe

In a bid to promote the fitness among people, an Ultra Marathon was organised in Ladakh on September 11. The event was organised by Rimo Expeditions, an eco-adventure company that has pioneered adventure sports in Ladakh. The Ultra Marathon is said to be the highest and amongst the toughest marathons in the world. The marathon drew massive participation from various parts of the globe. The event offers two ultra-races – the 72 km Khardung La Challenge (5370 m) and the 122 km Silk Route. To acclimatise for race day, participants were supposed to reach Ladakh, at least a week in advance.
