Assets case: CID conducts raids on IPS officer, bizman

Bengal CID on Sunday raided multiple places in Kolkata — including a residence in Salt Lake — in its probe into a disproportionate assets case involving IPS officer Debasish Dhar and businessman Sudipto Roy Chowdhury. CID remained tight-lipped about the recoveries, but said a detailed seizure list had been prepared and handed over to those present on these premises. The case was initially registered under the Barrackpore Commissionerate some time ago before its investigation was handed over to the CID. CID sources said they were investigating whether the officer indeed made disproportionate assets since 2015. Sources said the raids were carried out after a tip-off claimed that IPS Dhar — who is presently on compulsory waiting in the rank of an SP — was close to Chowdhury.
