CET’s National Service Scheme camp helps 200 families of Vilappil

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET) organised a three-day camp named ‘Dyuti’ from September 3-5 at Vilappil village. The students went from door to door and gave an awareness about the necessity to conserve energy. LED bulbs were also distributed to about 200 needy families of the village. A total of 61 engineering students camped at Vilappil Government UP school for completion of the project.

Low energy efficient bulbs were replaced by LEDs by students in Vilappil village where APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University’s (KTU) permanent headquarters would come up.  The programme was initiated and led by college principal Suresh Babu and NSS programme officers Bringle C Das and Tara R J.

While the programme was inaugurated at university level by I B Satheesh MLA, the three day camp held at Vilappil UP school was inaugurated by school headmaster Ajith Kumar. School PTA president Jayakumar and NSS CET unit programme officer Bringle C Das addressed the gathering.

Various activities were organised as part of the three day camp named Dyuti. Onam kit was distributed to four poor families and surroundings of the school where camp was held were thoroughly cleaned.  
Keeping in mind the personality development of students, various activities such as sports, cultural activities, talk sessions and practical sessions were organised during the camp.
