Vadodara: Students from the city made a mark in the JEE (Advanced) 2022 with at least seven students obtaining all-India rank (AIR) below 500. One student obtained eighty-eighth AIR in the results declared on Sunday.
While girls made a mark in the NEET results, boys dominated the JEE Advanced results.
Sources said that there was a dip in the cut-off marks indicating that the difficulty level of the questions may have been higher this year.
This led to students scoring lesser marks this year as compared to last year.
Vraj Parikh who bagged AIR 88 attributed his success to hard work. Both his mother and father are doctors — mother an ophthalmologist and father a pathologist.
“I had started preparing consistently for my exams since standard 10. In standard nine too, I had put in some efforts in this direction. I was always keen on becoming an engineer and will study computer science. I will prefer to join either IIT-Delhi or IIT-Kanpur,” said Vraj who had obtained the 468th rank in the JEE Main.
Other students who passed with flying colours include Rushit Pancholi (AIR 271), Shivang Goyel (AIR 296), Dhwanil Gheewala (AIR 335), Divij Rawal (AIR 371), Tanmay Mittal (AIR 470) and Czileen Patel (AIR 474).
Sources said that the inclination of most students who got good ranks was towards computer engineering.
