Mysuru: A 50-year-old KSRTC driver from Mysuru who tried to fix a colleague’s bus got crushed between the wheel and the frame of the bus in Chennai on Sunday.
Shabbier Pasha, survived by wife and two children, worked for KSRTC for 25 years.
Sources said KSRTC operates three ultra-luxury buses between Mysuru and Chennai every day. Pasha drove one of those buses from Mysore on Saturday night and reached Chennai at 6.30am Sunday. Another bus driven by a colleague developed a technical snag. It was being repaired by its driver and another bus driver in Chennai. Pasha joined in.
Around 9.30am, Pasha reportedly tried to check the progress of the bus repair work by getting in between the wheel and the bus body. At the same time, a worker reportedly operated a switch, which resulted in the bus body instantly collapsing towards the wheel. As a result, Pasha got stuck between the wheel and the bus, leading to his death.
KSRTC Mysuru divisional controller R Ashok Kumar informed Pasha’s family members about the tragedy and they were sent to Chennai. An officer was rushed from Kolar to Chennai to help the family, he said.
