On Sunday, thousands of people lined streets and roadsides as the oak coffin was borne from the late queen's beloved Balmoral Castle summer retreat, where she died on Thursday, to Edinburgh.

The first members of the public will have the chance to pay respects to Queen Elizabeth II on Monday when the monarch's coffin lies at rest at St. Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh.

The start of the working week is another day steeped in the historic pageantry and pomp that follows the death of a British sovereign.

King Charles III will start the day speaking to lawmakers at Parliament in London before flying to Scotland.

On Sunday, thousands of people lined streets and roadsides as the oak coffin was borne from the late queen's beloved Balmoral Castle summer retreat, where she died on Thursday, to Edinburgh.

The new king, accompanied by his wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, will walk behind his mother's coffin as it is slowly transported from Holyroodhouse to St. Giles' Cathedral, where the crown of Scotland will be placed on the coffin ahead of a service of prayer and reflection on the life and 70-year reign of the widely cherished monarch.

The queen's coffin will lie at the cathedral for 24 hours, giving members of the public a chance to file past and pay their respects. On Tuesday, it will be flown to London where the coffin will lie in state at the Houses of Parliament Palace from Wednesday afternoon until the morning of the funeral on Sept. 19.

Authorities already have issued rules and guidelines for people wanting to pay their respects in London, with a long queue expected.

After visiting Scotland, Charles embarks on a tour of the other nations that make up the United Kingdom - he visits the Northern Ireland capital, Belfast, on Tuesday and Wales on Friday.

‘The Crown’ is one of the most popular shows on Netflix. The historical drama series traces the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the events that shook the royal family. The series was among the most watched shows in 2020 when the world underwent a lockdown owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The four-season-long series spans more or less Elizabeth's whole life, and was the subject of a media frenzy last season, with critics claiming that it veered dangerously from historical reality. Nonetheless, as far as royal dramas go, this is a winner — clever, glitzy, and far more astute than it could have been.

The show is directed by Stephen Daldry, Philip Martin, Julian Jarrold, and Benjamin Caron. Peter Morgan wrote the screenplay of ‘The Crown’. Morgan, who envisioned the Queen’s private life, has a long history of writing plays, television shows, and films about real-life heroes who are brought low by catastrophic flaws and this is evident from the show that portrays political chaos and the beginning of a new era. Apart from the historical accuracy, the show has been praised for its nuanced performances by acclaimed actors such as Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Josh O’Connor, Emma Corrin, and Emerald Fennell. The fifth season of the popular show is set to be aired in November.

‘Prince Philip An Extraordinary Life’ (2021)

Another Netflix original film focuses on the life of the late Prince Philip. While the film principally focuses on the life of Prince Philip, it also depicts the life and times of the Queen. The show was popular among the fans of the Royal family and those who wanted to know more about Prince Philip who the Queen had termed her ‘constant strength’. The film was released after the death of one on April 9, 2021. The film helmed by Adrian Munsey and Vance Goodwin was hailed for its intimate portrayal of the politics in the UK.
