Three drown during Ganpati immersion in Wardha

Wardha: Two kids and a youth, who had gone to Moti nullah in Mandwa village for Ganpati immersion around4 pm, drowned on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Dnyaneshwar Chavan (35), Kartik Tulshiram Balvir (11) and Arthav Sachin Vanjari (10).
According to information, 5-10 people, including children, joined Chavan for Ganpati immersion at the embankment of the nullah.
Sawangi police station officer PI Dhanaji Jhalak said two children were swept away by the stream and fell on rocks.
When Chavan tried to save the children, both clung to him and all three drowned as they could not swim.
The others present there rushed to the village screaming and informed the villagers that three persons had drowned. As soon as the villagers pulled out the three, the two children died on the spot, while Chavan lost his life on the way to the district hospital. The bodies were sent for postmortem.
