Ranchi: Ranchi: The ongoing tussle between the incumbent UPA coalition government and the Raj Bhavan might further escalate in the coming days. After chief minister Hemant Soren, the
Election Commission (EC) is now learnt to have sent its recommendation in the office-of-profit case involving Hemant’s younger brother and Dumka MLA Basant to the Raj Bhavan. However, the office of the governor is silent on this one also.
While the members of the opposition
BJP hinted that the EC letter had reached the Raj Bhavan on Friday in a very guarded manner, governor Ramesh Bais’s office did not issue any statement about the letter till Saturday evening.
A source in the Raj Bhavan, however, has confirmed receiving the EC letter on Friday. “The sealed envelope has reached yesterday (Friday), but it is still to be opened,” the source told TOI.
Reacting to the development, Dumka MLA Basant Soren said, “I haven’t officially received any communication either from the EC or the Raj Bhavan. If the reports are true, I urge the Raj Bhavan to clear the air without delay.”
With both the Soren brothers’ fate sealed in envelopes, political observers here believed that the continued silence of the Raj Bhavan may lead to further deterioration of the political environment of the state and an increase in the criticism of the governor’s house with pressure from the ruling alliance partners, especially JMM.
Godda’s BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who has been making revelatory tweets against the investigations by the EC and the enforcement of directorate (ED) against the Sorens for long, on Friday night, tweeted: “Basant bhi gayo (Basant is also gone).” His tweets last month related to the CM’s case but were more pointed in which he and his party had predicted Hemnt’s disqualification in the letter sent by the EC, triggering “political uncertainty”.
