COIMBATORE: Taking some time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, hundreds of people thronged the banks of Periyakulam lake on Saturday to visit the All In All Market, a marketplace for citizens to buy and sell their products.
The market, organised by the Coimbatore Smart City Limited and the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, will be open on Sunday also between 10am and 9pm.

More than 15 stalls are selling a range of items, including fashion accessories, electrical appliances, readymade spice mixes and snacks. Games have been organized for the children attending the event.
After visiting the stalls, people enjoyed water sports inaugurated recently. “The lake area is usually vibrant on weekends. It has become livelier as a lot of activities and shopping options are made available. Children enjoyed it thoroughly,” said Alima Begum, a visitor.
P Sevvanthy, a resident of Selvapuram, said the lake looked better with a large number of people thronging the banks on Saturday evening. “Activities like this will bring more people out of their houses to public places,” she told TOI.
Coimbatore collector G S Sameeran inaugurated the marketplace on Saturday morning with corporation commissioner M Prathap. They also took a boat ride.
Meanwhile, Innisai Evening, a music show, was organised at Valankulam lake, which was also beautified under the smart cities scheme. Fun-filled events are being organised at weekends to keep denizens entertained and make full use of public places developed under the scheme, a corporation official said.
A cyclothon will be conducted on September 18 and a food festival has been planned on September 24 and 25 at Kumarasamy lake.
