Coimbatore: Irked by irregular water supply, residents of Yamuna Street at Gounder Mills confronted ward 15 councillor P Santhamani on Saturday.
Residents told TOI that they used to get water once in 10 days, but it was not supplied in the last 16 days. The municipal corporation used to deploy trucks to supply water as supply through pipes was often affected. But the trucks have also stopped visiting the area, they said.
Angry residents surrounded Santhamani, a Congress councillor, who visited the area to pacify them. They asked her to stop supplying water through trucks and ensure that water is supplied through pipes once a week.
Santhamani blamed the
Tamil Nadu water supply and drainage board officials for not allotting the fair share of water to the area. She assured to supply water to the area by Saturday night or on Sunday.
“I am ready to take the residents to the appropriate authorities on Monday to mount pressure,” she said.
