Couple held for stealing ₹10L from collection agent in Chas

Bokaro: A couple was arrested on Saturday for stealing Rs 10 lakh from a collection agent of Airtel Payment Bank last month, police said.
The husband and wife were identified as Nakul Chandra Mahto and Pinki Devi, respectively. “They were nabbed from their residence in S S Colony,” Chas SDPO Purosattam Kumar said, adding that Rs 5.88 lakh has been recovered from their possession. “The couple has made a fixed deposit of the remaining amount. The FD papers have been confiscated,” Kumar said.
The collection agent, identified as Prakash Kumar Sinha, met with an accident while he was on his bike on August 31 at Jodadih Moad in Chas. “After he regained conscious, he saw that his bag containing the cash was missing. He then filed a complaint at Chas police station. While investigating the case, we came to know that a few locals had seen a couple on a bike fleeing with the bag. We then went through the CCTV footage in the area and traced the couple and made the arrest,” Kumar said.
