Jaipur: A joint team of Jaipur police on Saturday early morning conducted searches at the premises of 466 suspects with a history of criminal activities. Additional commissioner of police, crime, Ajay Pal Lamba said that police decided to swoop down on suspects with a history of arms act.
“We had identified 466 persons with criminal antecedents. The task was given to 2,000 police personnel to start early morning raids simultaneously across the city,” Lamba said.
The police said that 168 suspects were rounded up for interrogation. Different teams also seized 21 vehicles. “The interrogation is underway with the suspects. We expect that their questioning will yield important revelations,” he said, adding that he has also come to the police’s notice that many of these criminals regularly intimidate neighbours.
Lamba added that ahead of festivals season in the city, it was important to keep a watch over suspects.
The police said that they have arrested a total of 157 persons during their operation. The officials said that they were also examining the history sheets of the suspects. tnn
