UDUPI: Minister V Sunil Kumar has said that the government had helped the people of Bengaluru during the recent rain that flooded several neighbourhoods.
Kumar, who holds the portfolis of energy, Kannada and culture, on Saturday said that the energy department alone had restored 1,500 electric poles within 48 hours.
The government will chalk out a plan to prevent such a calamity in the future, he said.
"The untimely rain has caused havoc in the city. According to an experts' report, Bengaluru has never witnessed such heavy rain in the past 100 years," he said.
"The government has taken all steps to help people and bring back normalcy in the city," he said. On the Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra, the minister said those who divided the nation have no right to hold such a march.
"They should have organised a Congress Jodo programme where the party has lost its existence. When they are holding Bharat Jodo campaign, people are on a Congress Chhodo spree," he said. "Let them stop the Bharat Jodo yatra and concentrate on saving the Congress. Even as the Congress's yatra has begun in the south of India, the leaders of that party in the north are deserting it. The Congress can end the yatra and start focussing on saving the party from extinction," he said. On the Janaspandana programme of the government, he said it will be organised in all districts.
