Rajkot: Three people mercilessly thrashed to death a mare that they had forcibly tried to drag away from a stable in Kuvadva GIDC.
The stable owner Aabid Bhatti lodged a complaint with Kuvadva Road police station, alleging that the accused tried to drag away the mare when he refused to sell the animal to them. They tried to push the mare into a mini truck, but when the animal resisted, they dealt severe blows on its head with some blunt object. Bhatti told police that the trio had come to his stable on August 30 when he was away. He got a call from someone informing that they had trespassed his stable and tried to steal the mare. Bhatti rushed to his stable and called the veterinary doctor who started treatment.
However, the mare succumbed the next day. On checking the CCTV footage, Bhatti identified one person named Viraj Gamara who had come with two others to buy this mare two days before the incident. Bhatti, however, refused to sell it to them.
