VARANASI: Manduadih police on Saturday arrested four miscreants from Bhullanpur area with a stolen SUV carrying a sticker of ‘UP Government’.
The arrested miscreants were mainly engaged in stealing goats from rural belts of many east UP districts.
Inspector Manduadih Rajiv Singh said that in view of doubtful activities of some youths, their vehicle was checked and a fake registration number was found on their SUV. “The youths, identified as Talib Alam, Javed, Tausif Alam and Abu Talha of Jaitpura and adjoining areas have been arrested,” he added.
During interrogation they divulged that they had stolen the SUV of Bihar from Chandauli district. To ensure that nobody stopped it for checking, they put the sticker of UP Government on it. They moved in rural belts of Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Prayagraj, Azamgarh and many other districts mainly in night hours to steal goats and sell them to butchers, police said.
“They used to make money up to Rs 1.50 lakh in a month,” police said, adding that a country-made revolver and live cartridges were recovered from them.
Two miscreants arrested: Lohata police on Saturday arrested two miscreants Mohammad Sajid and Mohammad Salim, both residents of Bajardiha locality, near Rohaniya crossing. The police recovered a stolen motorcycle, a pistol and a live cartridge from them. They were booked under sections 41, 411, 419, 420 of IPC and Arms Act.
