Noida: One-week-old baby found abandoned on a roof

NOIDA: A newborn baby was found abandoned at the terrace of a house in Barola village on Friday, officials said. The infant has been admitted at a neonatal ICU and child Welfare committee (CWC) has taken custody of the baby.
According to cops, they received a call at around 5 am on Friday from a Barola village resident informing about the abandoned baby.
“After the information, a team from Sector 49 police station rushed to the spot and took the baby to Child PGI hospital in Sector 30 where he is under treatment. During investigation, the caller revealed that he had come on the terrace for some work and spotted the child inside a cloth bag,” Yashpal Singh, station house officer of Sector 49 police station, said.
“We have deployed a constable at the hospital to guard the child and have taken CCTV footage of neaby areas to identify the person who abandoned the baby. No case has been registered in the matter yet,” Singh stated.
Dr (major) BP Singh, senior emergency medical officer at Child PGI informed that the baby has been admitted at the Neonatal ICU of the hospital.
“The child has contacted various infections and is barely one week old. He will stay in the NICU for at least four weeks under treatment after which he will be handed over to the CWC,” BP Singh stated.
