LONDON: William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, joined Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, on Saturday outside Windsor Castle to greet the crowds that had gathered. Joint appearances with the sons of King Charles have grown rare after Harry and Meghan decided to move to the US and no longer be working royals.
The foursome stood together and chatted briefly, although they did not spend much time together during the 40-minutewalkabout, which followed an invitation from William to his brother. It was an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time, a royal source said. Earlier in the day, King Charles III signed the declaration which officially made him the new monarch using ink from a silver pot gifted to him by his sons.
Meanwhile, William gave a poignant tribute to the Queen: “I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without grannie will truly feel real. ”
