Punjab: 5 mobile phones seized from Central Jail inmates

LUDHIANA: During a special checking drive, Ludhiana Central Jail authorities recovered five mobile phones, a mobile phone battery, 3gm opium and 40 tobacco packets. FIRs have been lodged against four jail inmates.
In the first case, assistant jail superintendent Jasveer Singh said during a surprise check, jail authorities recovered a smart phone from a prisoner, Jaswinder Singh who is lodged in Cell block's chakki number 5.
In the second case, jail officials recovered a mobile phone from two inmates, Balwinder Singh and Ajinderpal Singh, who are lodged in barrack number 3.
Assistant superintendent Kuldeep Singh said in the third case, jail officials recovered three mobile phones and 40 tobacco packets found abandoned in the jail premises.
An FIR has been lodged against the unidentified accused in the case.
In the fourth case, jail officials recovered 3gm opium and the battery of a mobile phone from an inmate, Narinderpal. Division number 7 police lodged four separate FIRs against jail inmates, sources said.
