Priest passes away in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: Rev Father Peter Fernandes, the parish priest of the St Sebastian Church, Thokur, passed away on Saturday. He was 74.
Fr Fernandes was in hospital several times recently for health complications.
He was last hospitalised on Thursday.
Hailing from Pius Nagar, Udupi, Fr Fernandes was born to Casimir Fernandes and Juvanna Fernandes on August 9, 1948. He was ordained priest for the Diocese of Mangalore on May 4, 1978.
Fr Fernandes served as an assistant parish priest in Cascia, Bantwal and Madanthyar parishes. He also served as the parish priest in Ukkinadka, Indubettu, Borimar, Kelarai and Naravi. He was the priest in-charge in Eliapadav and Maniyampare parishes. The funeral Mass will be held at St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia, on Monday.
