Cong leaders to welcome Rahul’s Yatra at border town

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra which was kicked off in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari on Wednesday will enter the state on Sunday. State Congress leaders will give a reception to the march at Kaliyakkavilla, close to the TN-Kerala border, at 7am.
KPCC president K Sudhakaran, opposition leader V D Satheesan, AICC general secretary Tariq Anwar, former chief minister Oommen Chandy, former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, UDF convener M M Hassan, Yatra state coordinator Kodikunnil Suresh, other party leaders, MLAs, MPs and local body representatives from the district will welcome the Yatra at the border town.
The march will cover seven districts in the state in 19 days and will enter Tamil Nadu on September 29. The Yatra will move from 7am to 11am and from 4pm to 7pm every day. As part of the march mass contact programmes have also been organized in different places.
As many as 300 party workers from the state will be accompanying Rahul Gandhi during the march across the state. A special control room has been set up at the KPCC headquarters to coordinate the Yatra. Opposition leader V D Satheesan said all preparations are in place in the state to receive the foot march and that party workers will converge in large numbers to make the Yatra a big success, he said.
The march will cover Thiruvananthapuram district in two days (from Sunday to September 14) and Kollam in another two days. It will cover Alappuzha from September 17 to 20 and Ernakulam in the next two days. The Yatra will pass through Thrissur on September 23 and 25 and Palakkad in the next two days. On September 18 and 29 the march will cover Malappuram. The march that started from Kanyakumari on September 7 and will cover 3,500 km across the country in six months. It is expected to conclude on January 30, 2023, and will cover 12 states. As part of the Yatra rallies have been organized in 22 cities across the country.
