Coimbatore: Dairy farmers have urged authorities to revise the timing of veterinary centres to suit the requirements of farmers. Presently, veterinary centres function in two sessions. While the morning session starts at 8am and ends at 12am, the evening session starts at 3pm and ends at 5pm.
K Vivekanandan, a Perur-based dairy farmer, said farmers cannot take cattle for treatment in the evenings as it is time for milking. “Most of the farmers prefer to visit in the morning hours. Sometimes, they fail to reach the centres before 12pm and are forced to wait for three hours,” he said.
The centres should be kept open till 2pm instead of 12pm, general secretary of Vivasayigal Sangam P Kanthasamy said. TNN
