RSWS: Indian Legends beat South Africa Legends by 61 runs in the inaugural match

Kanpur: Indian legends defeated South Africa legends by 61 runs in the inaugural match of Road Safety World Series (RSWS) held here at Green Park stadium on Saturday.
Batting first Indian legends posted a big total of 217 for 4 in 20 overs and thereafter they restricted South Africa legends on 9 for 156.
South African legends could not bear the pressure of a big score and could not meet the required run rate of 10.85 per over. Opener Morne Van and Andrew gave a moderate start adding 43 runs in their partnership. They contributed 26 and 23 runs respectively. Sharma got the credit of breaking their union. Thereafter Pragyan Ojha bagged Puttick’s wicket and reduced South Africa 58 for 2.
After ten overs South Africa was 71 for 2 and the required run rate was 14.6 per over.
Wickets thereafter fell at regular intervals as South African batsmen were facing difficulty in facing Indian spinners and soon Proteas were reduced to 6 for 106 in 15 overs. Captain Jonty Rhodes was witnessing the departure of his colleagues from the other end. He however showed the strength of his bat and scored unbeaten 38 runs in 27 balls plundering 5 boundaries and a six at deep midwicket to Pathan .He emerged as the highest scorer .
For India, spinner Rahul Sharma picked 3 wickets for 17 runs while Pragyan Ojha and Munaf Patel both bagged 2 wickets each. Irfan and Yuvraj both grabbed one wicket each. Stuart Binny was adjudged as man of the match for his unbeaten innings of 82 runs.
