Thiruvananthapuram: The 280-member KPCC executive committee has been formally approved by the AICC, KPCC president K Sudhakaran said here on Saturday. The list of the executive committee members will be published in a day or two. All these 280 members will be on the voters’ list of the KPCC for the AICC president election, he said.
The list contains 40% new faces and youths. The AICC had earlier rejected the list submitted by the KPCC and has asked for inclusion of more fresh and young faces. Based on this, a new list was submitted before the party high command which has been given the nod now.
The general body of the new members will be convened this month itself. It was during the tenure of M M Hassan as the KPCC president that the KPCC executive committee was constituted last.
After K Sudhakaran became the president, the demand for reconstituting the executive committee had come up. But the group leaders were not ready to accept a massive revamping of the existing committee. Hence, based on their suggestions, a list filling up the vacancies in the executive committee was submitted to the party high command first.
However, the high command was not happy with this list and wanted a massive revamp in the committee that existed during the tenure of Hassan.
The new list was prepared after having elaborate discussions with the group leaders and by seeking the opinion of senior leaders.
KPCC chief Sudhakaran also said anyone can access the voters’ list of the KPCC for the upcoming AICC president’s election from the party headquarters here and there will be no restriction on this. The list will also be available in all the PCC offices.
