Man tries to kidnap girl outside school, nabbed by alert locals

Prayagraj: Panic gripped outside Girls’ High School & College (GHS), Elgin road, Prayagraj under the limits of Civil Lines police station on Friday morning after an unidentified man made a futile attempt to kidnap minor girl (studying in junior section) near school’s junior section gate.
When the alert security guards and guardians raised an alarm, the suspicious man immediately left the minor’s girl hand. The locals, however, caught him and handed over to the police. The broad daylight incident created sensation in city and senior cops too arrived to probe the incident. Inspector (Civil Lines) Virendra Yadav told TOI, “Cops have been probing the case thoroughly and quizzed the man who was caught red handed outside the girl’s school ( junior section) while making an abortive bid to take the minor girl with him after holding her hand”. Inspector, however, said, “Family members and others of his village (detained man’s) have arrived at police station and police have been talking to them to compile more information about the detained man.”
Meanwhile, school authorities have appealed to police higher ups to depute a police vehicle at the gates of the school during school opening and closing time. School authorities have also appealed parents and guardians to guide their daughters not to talk to unknown people outside the school.
Besides, guardians have also been asked to ask the drivers of the vehicles concerned ferrying girls students of junior section to drop and pick up them from the school gate.
