Surat: Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) initiated an inquiry into the LLB student getting zero marks even as other students were given grace marks in the revised LLB exam results.
Marksheets of around 1,200 students were revised after the varsity authorities admitted of mistakes in the question papers of the fifth semester exam.
Shubham Vadaliya submitted a written application in the issue and requested the university to explain why he was given zero marks in Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) subject. Vadaliya, a student of Siddharth Law College, Kholwad, claimed that he did not adopt any unfair means.
“The decision in this student’s case will be taken by the appropriate committee. University will find out what wrong happened in the results,” said K N Chavda, vice chancellor, VNSGU.
In the LLB exam blunder, VNSGU included multiple questions in its MCQ format that were either out of the syllabus, wrongly formed questions, or questions that had wrong options as answers. The exam was held online in February 2022 and within a few days the results were announced. After a few weeks, the varsity also conducted the sixth semester exams.
Those who cleared the LLB exams, were awarded a degree and the final marksheet. Based on this, the students also took Sanad – license to practice law – and even admission in higher courses like the LLM.
Meanwhile, following continuous follow-up for faulty question papers the university finally admitted its fault and agreed to give grace marks.
Vadaliya got 56 marks in CrPC in the February 2022 exam and cleared all other subjects as well. He also cleared the sixth semester exam and received an LLB degree. He got his Sanad besides admission in LLM, based on the final marksheet. However, the varsity recently revised the February exam result and even as others got grace marks, Vadaliya obtained ‘zero’ marks.
