GURUGRAM: On the occasion of World Electric Vehicle Day, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a round table conference at Chandigarh, which saw industry experts and government representatives from Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh discuss opportunities and challenges in setting up Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) specifically meant for freight transportation.
“Electric vehicles have gained considerable global interest because they produce far less climate pollution than their gas-powered counterparts. EVs have huge scope to endorse a healthier and eco-friendly system and carry high prospects of shaping the future of the transportation sector,” Suvrat Khanna, co-chair, Chandigarh Chapter PHDCCI said.
While sharing the steps taken by the state government to promote EVs in Haryana, Sukhchain Singh, project manager of Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) stated that the Haryana government has notified the EV policy in the state and is offering electricity to charging point operators at the subsidised rates. State Government has established 100 charging points in the state and the numbers are increasing rapidly.
