3 detained over murder of youngster in Gadag

Gadag: A youth was allegedly murdered by his friends, during the Ganesha idol immersion procession at Tontadarya Math on Thursday night. The deceased is Sudeep Mundewadi,27, a resident of a settlement area in Gadag-Betgeri.
However, Gadag superintendent of police Shivaprakash Devaraj said that the incident is not related to the Ganesha idol immersion procession. “In fact it occurred after the procession had already passed through the spot. We have learnt that the deceased and accused in the murder were cousins, but they had developed a difference of opinion, over a petty issue. We have detained three accused and are interrogating them. We will arrest the accused, as soon as we get concrete details,” he added. Police sources said that the detained accused were involved in a weekly interest business, and would harass people after lending them loans.
