Firing off a fresh salvo at the BJP over its expensive t-shirt jibe at Rahul Gandhi, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on Saturday said that "Indians are busy paying the price for all the khaki shorts".
In a series of tweets, Moitra said, "Forget bags and T-shirts - Indians are busy paying the price for all the khaki shorts."

Moitra, who was earlier targeted by the BJP leaders over her ‘expensive’ Louis Vuitton bag, tweeted, "Seriously advise BJP to not cross line & comment on Opposition’s personal clothes & belongings. Remember if we start doing the same with watches, pens, shoes, rings & clothes BJP MPs wear, you’ll rue the day you started this game."

Remember if we start doing the same with watches, pens, shoes, rings & clothes BJP MPs wear, you’ll rue the day you stated this game.
Mahua Moitra's comments come after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was sporting an over Rs 40,000 t-shirt from British luxury brand Burberry while on his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Shiv Sena MP and former leader of the Congress, also hit back at the BJP on Friday, saying that only if they could have estimated the cost of "electing the suit-boot sarkar" so quickly.
The chief minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, told the media that while the Congress is working to bring the nation together, the ruling party is "still caught in T-shirts and khaki shorts."
On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi began the fourth day of his countrywide "Bharat Jodo Yatra" from Mulagumoodu in Kanyakumari. Gandhi announced on Friday that he was doing the Bharat Jodo Yatra in an effort to "engage with people" and "undo the damage the BJP and RSS have done."
Following Moitra's jibe on Twitter, the grand-nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose replied to the TMC MP's attack on the BJP.
He wrote, "Update yourself, irs trousers now".
