JAIPUR/AJMER: Eight persons were killed and 13 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Nagaur and Ajmer late on Wednesday evening.
According to police, five persons including a woman and a 7-year-old boy returning from Ramdevra Temple of Jaisalmer were killed and 12 others were injured when their cruiser jeep collided head on with a truck coming from the opposite direction near Surpoliya police station area of Nagaur. They were going to Ringas in Sikar district
“It was a nasty collision. After intimation from the locals a team of senior police officers and a rescue team were sent to the spot. With the help of metal cutters and other equipment the trapped passengers of the jeep were bailed out,” said Ram Murty Joshi, superintendent of police, Nagaur.
The deceased were identified as Hemraj (7), Rukma (27), Rohitash (25), Phool Chand (45) and Kaushalya (25).
“The highway was dark as there are lesser lights on the state highway. With the help of mobile phone lights, our team rescued the injured,” said a senior police officer of Surpolia police station.
In another accident, a couple and their 2-year- old son were killed after their bike was hit by a tractor-trolley near Tabiji Puliya on Ajmer- Beawar highway on Friday.
“The couple’s 4-year-old son who was severely injured in the accident was referred to JLN Hospital in Ajmer. The couple was from Deogarh of Rajsamand district and along with their relatives they were going to Delhi on motorcycles,” said a senior police officer of Mangliyawas police station.
Ramesh (30) and his wife Mangi (25) along with their two children Deepak (2) and Sanjay (4) were travelling from Deogarh to New Delhi by road on Friday morning. “At 11 in the morning, when they were crossing Tabii Puliya, a tractor coming from the wrong direction hit their motorcycle. Ramesh and Mangi fell on the ground and died on the spot. Their son Deepak also succumbed to the injuries while Deepak is undergoing treatment,” said an officer.
