Scribe’s wife hopeful of bail in ED case too

NEW DELHI: Journalist Siddique Kappan’s wife on Friday expressed happiness at the Supreme Court’s order granting him bail and thanked everyone who stood with her and family in their legal fight. Speaking in New Delhi, Raihanath expressed hope that Kappan would soon get bail in an ED case as well. “It is not a minor thing that a mediaperson had to remain behind bars for two years.
However, when the matter reached the SC, they realised the hollowness that led to a person’s imprisonment for two years,” she said. Kappan will be released from the Lucknow jail next week, a senior jail official from Lucknow has confirmed. “He will be released once his bail order is submitted here and a release order is issued as per SC order,” said Santosh Kumar Verma, spokesperson at the office of the DGP (prisons).
