PONDA: Two women and a man were arrested by Ponda police on Friday in connection with the theft of copper cable rolls worth Rs 2 lakh from a Kundaim-based factory.
They have been remanded in two-days police custody.
Ponda police inspector Vijaykumar Chodankar said that according to a complaint lodged by HR manager Anuradha Akaram Kadam of De Nora India Limited based in Kundaim Industrial Estate, unknown persons decamped with copper cable rolls from the factory premises between 4pm of September 3 and 8am of September 5. An FIR was filed in this connection.
Police said that as per CCTV footage, a tempo was seen transporting the stolen property. The vehicle was later traced at Karaswada, Mapusa along with the driver Mohammed Mustafa, 35, a native of Uttar Pradesh and two women, both natives of Karnataka.
All three were nabbed by a team of Ponda police consisting of PSI Aditya Velip, head constables Kedarnath Jalmi and Hanumant Borkar, and police constable Ameya Gosavi under the supervision of SDPO, Ponda C L Patil and Chodankar.
The police have recovered the stolen property from the accused. Police said while Mustafa was residing at Colvale, the women were staying at Karaswada.
