PANAJI: JMFC, Mapusa on Saturday granted 13-day judicial custody to the two accused - Sudhir Sangvan and Sukhwinder Singh - in connection with TikTok star and Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat murder case.
The investigation into the high-profile murder case of Phogat seems to be dragging with deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Jivba Dalvi yet to take charge of the probe. Though North Goa superintendent of police (SP) Shobhit Saksena had issued an order on September 1, directing Dalvi to take over the probe and send a report to him every week, nearly 10 days later it is still the Anjuna police inspector who is handling the case.
“Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Mapusa is hereby directed to take over the investigation of Anjuna PS crime no. 134/2022 under Section 302 r/w 34 IPC and send the progress report of the case every week to this office,” the SP (North) had said in his September 1 order.
Though a Goa police team visited Haryana and seized Phogat’s personal dairies, they have been unable to ascertain the motive behind her murder.
