GREATER NOIDA: The second edition of International Electric Motor Vehicle Show (EV India 2022), which started on Wednesday, saw business enquiries totalling Rs 900 crore till Friday.
Its final act was a 300-km green rally to Bhimtal, flagged off by Jaswant Singh Saini, the minister of state for industrial development. At the three-day B2B event, Joy e-bikes were in popular demand from countries like Maldives, Nepal, Bangladesh and Vietnam. Overall, 250 exhibitors participated in the event.
Flagging off the rally, Saini said, "India is ushering in a new era of clean mobility, with EVs offering a great opportunity in reducing carbon footprint, dependence on crude oil imports, creating jobs and building a tech-based knowledge hub in India."
On Friday, 30 residents, including 12 from NCR, participated in the rally, showcasing cars such as Nexon, MG EV ZS, etc. They claimed EV gave a good average mileage and aimed to promote a green environment with the rally.
"I bought a Nexon EV last year; its performance is good. I have driven 8,000 km in this car, which has an average mileage of 200 km after one-time charging. I participated in the rally to spread awareness of electronic vehicles among the public. I recommend EV cars for all," said Sandeep Verma, a resident of Noida, who took part in the Friday rally.
Kaustubh Jhunjhunwala, a Delhi resident who participated in the rally, said he has been driving an EV for the past two years and is happy with its performance. "I have been driving an MG EV ZS for the past two years and have not faced any problems. The plus point is that I am conscious of its green impact. I will never buy a petrol or diesel car in the future as I am satisfied with its performance," said Jhunjhunwala, adding that finding EV charging stations is not a problem in Delhi and Punjab. MG EV ZS goes up to 500 km on one charge.
Ram Singh Kaira, MLA, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, received the rally participants in Bhimtal, where participants planted saplings.
