Popular lyricist Kabilan's daughter Thoorigai died by suicide. She was 28. Thoorigai was found hanging at her residence on Friday (Sep 10). The mortal remains of Thoorigai are reportedly kept at a private hospital in Saligramam, Chennai. Police are investigating the case, and it has been revealed in the preliminary investigation that she reportedly died by suicide because her parents forced her to marry. The police officials will continue the further investigation to find out if there are any other reasons behind her taking the extreme step. Kabilan's daughter Thoorigai was also a fashion designer and writer, and has worked as a costume designer in several Tamil films. Thoorigai also launched a digital magazine for women in 2020. She had been publishing interviews with women who strive to achieve success and wish for change. She had also been planning to host an award show named 'Friendship Icon Award' at the IIT Chennai campus to mark the completion of two years of the magazine. For the past few weeks, she has been busy and enthusiastically working on it. Thoorigai’s untimely demise, especially for someone who had achieved marvelous feats at a young age, has shocked the entire film industry, fans, and friends. Kabilan has been penning lyrics for Tamil songs since 2001, and he has been doing well for more than two decades. He had recently roped in for 'Pisaasu 2', of which the music is scored by Karthik Raja.
