Anti-TB campaign is getting community to play productive role in fight against it: Expert

Dr Raghuram Rao, Additional DDG, TB Division, Directorate General of Health Services on September 10 briefed the media on the new Policy ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ launched by President Droupadi Murmu on September 09 step-up Tuberculosis (TB) elimination measures from the nation. The Campaign would bring the community together in the fight against tuberculosis in India.He said, “TB campaign launched by President is about getting the community to play a productive role in the fight against TB by adopting TB patients within their geography and providing them with additional nutritional and social support. The adopter, with help of the District TB Officer, should design and give a nutritional basket containing cereals, millets, milk powder, oil, protein and groundnut to the TB patient. The cost of it is around Rs 1,000 for 1 patient for 1 month. UP has the most number of TB cases because of its sheer size and population density, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, Gujarat and MP.”
