The Indian contract mobile phone manufacturer, Dixon Technologies, becomes the first entity to get approval for incentive disbursement under the government's production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme.
The company had made a claim for Rs, 53 crore for the first quarter of operations, i.e. from October to December 2021, which got the approval. The company is now engaged in filing claims for the remaining period.
The firm’s proposal came up singularly before an empowered group for approval, chaired by Parameswaran Iyer, Niti Aayog chief executive. Even though Samsung had also filed claims for FY20-
A government official has reportedly stated, “We have disbursed roughly Rs 50 crore for Dixon. We expect to clear the incentives of other companies over the next fortnight. There may be some delay only in cases where the auditors have raised some questions on the value addition methodology and the outcome claimed by a couple of companies."
Dixon plans to increase investment in building scale, component ecosystem creation and design development. The firm will receive the incentive within a few days.
