A high-level panel headed by Parameswaran Iyer, CEO, NITI Aayog on Friday approved 32 beneficiaries under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for manufacturing large-scale electronics. These include 10 (5 global and 5 domestic companies) for mobile manufacturing as well.
The Aayog, on social media, announced that the committee gave the approval for the first incentive for mobile manufacturing under the PLI scheme for large-scale electronics manufacturing. It also added that this would be the first-ever disbursement under any PLI scheme
With an outlay of Rs. 2 lakh crore for 14 sectors, the government has already rolled out the scheme. These sectors include automobiles and auto components, pharma, textiles, white goods, advanced chemistry cell, and specialty steel.
The scheme aims to make domestic manufacturing globally competitive and to create manufacturing global champions.
